Two Brazilian women with victories at Future MMA will debut at UFC this Saturday in Mexico. In the strawweight division, Ariane Sorriso, who knocked out Ketlen Esquentadinha in the 5th edition, is fighting against former Invicta FC champion Angela Hill.
Unbeaten since her debut fight in 2014, Ariane Sorriso, 26, arrived at UFC after an incredible sequence of 12 wins in the national MMA circuit, eight of them via knockout. Now, at the largest MMA organization in the world, she hopes to continue the deeds, starting with Hill.
“From her struggles, I saw that she was never knocked out, and that's a bigger motivation because I like knocking out, so that's what I'm going to look for in the fight. For me, it's not a problem, no, it's a bigger motivation. I'm going in to end the fight soon because I came to make history at UFC and that's what they can expect, ” promised Sorriso.
More experienced than Sorriso, Vanessa Melo, 31, is in the best shape of her career. A professional since 2011, she has had an uneven career until 2016, alternating wins and losses. In 2017, Vanessa did not fight because of a pregnancy. When she returned to the cages in early 2018, she lost no more: five wins in a row. For this Saturday fight, she chose not to give details of the strategy.
“My strategy is to fight (laughs),” she responded to the UFC crew. “I like to be focused on what I'm going to do at fight time. If it's standing, that's fine; if it's on the floor, that's fine too. So wherever the fight goes, that's great for me, ”said the bantamweight, who beat Nilde Hurricane and Mariana Morais in Future 2 and 5, respectively.
