Batamweight champion of the American event Titan FC, the Brazilian Rudson Caliocane won the votation to fight in the 9th edition of Future MMA. On October 18, he enters the Decagon in Sao Paulo to represent Brazil in the international duel against Uruguayan Paulo Portillo. Without fighting since January, he explained why decided to fight in Future MMA before defending the title in the foreign organization.
“I was going to defend the belt against Irwin Rivera on June 28, but I had a ligament injury. The fight was rescheduled for October 18 in the Dominican Republic, but Rivera had passport issues and could not leave the country. They rescheduled for December 20, just at the end of the year. I talked to my coach, said I was trained and would like to fight before. He and my manager put me in the Future MMA”, he said.
But before his Future MMA fight was confirmed, Caliocane had to win the battle of the votes against compatriot Samuel Alves. Unbeaten since his debut in 2012, the Titan champion has also fared well in popular voting and secured his place in the decagon of the event that most exports Brazilian fighters to the UFC today.
“I found this votation system cool, because we put the people who accompany us to interact, to participate. Seeing this kindness of the staff is cool. It is important to receive this positive energy and see that people are dreaming with us, ”said the representative of TFT and American Top Team.
The Uruguayan also secured a spot on the card through popular discretion, as did Argentine Nicolas Cocuccio. Thus, they are the first foreigners to win a Future MMA vote. In addition to the above three, nine other fighters confirmed their participation in the Future MMA 9 card by voting, including Assis Souza, Daniel Willycat, Denis Alagoas and Evandro Barbosa, who have already won within the organization.
The main fight will be the light heavyweight title match between Matheus Buffa and Fabão Vasconcelos. The card also features the presence of Bruno Korea, João Alicate and Jonas Bilharinho. Future MMA 9 will have as its stage the gymnasium of the Centro Universitário Ítalo Brasileiro, in the Santo Amaro neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo. Watch all the fights live and in high definition through the Future app, available for free download from Google Play and the App Store.
